Can my child come to school?

Please see the letter we have sent home about this.

“...the government has asked parents to keep children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.”

The Government published ‘the list’ of KEY WORKERS.

The Government's Key Information for parents and carers can be found here.

Devon County Council have a list of which schools are open and offering Childcare for Key Workers.  It is expected that children will only need to attend a school if their own has been forced to close because of staff shortages.

Childcare for children of key workers

  • Where it is possible for the child/ren to stay at home, they must.
  • Where there is a parent/carer at home who is not a key worker, the child will be with that person and not in school.
  • Where both parents/carers or a single parent/carer is a key worker, the child/ren may attend the childcare provision at The Beacon for the hours where the parent/s / carer/s are travelling to and from work and are at work only, it is expected that children will be at school for the minimum possible time.

Childcare for vulnerable children including those with ECHPs

  • Where it is possible for the child/ren to stay at home, they must.
  • Anne Billington, or her nominated representative, will have a conversation with parents/carers about the reasons for the vulnerability of the child. An offer of care may be made in exceptional circumstances.

The thought of facing a long time without our usual routines is daunting.
