Welcome to our Home Learning Page, this is where you'll find activities that can be done at home either printed out or copied from the screen. I have tried to make it as close to our 'Normal Classroom Routine' as possible with activities from across the curriculum.
Reading:
Children will need to read everyday at home for at least fifteen minutes. Hopefully they have got a book or two at home that they can continue to read from school. I will also be uploading some texts which you can access at home for the children to complete, this will focus on their inference and comprehension skills.

Week 1:
Session 1- Life in the Iron Age
Use a selection of historical source materials to find out about the tribal life of Iron Age people. Discover how tribes were led and ruled, where they built their homes and how they worked together to defend them. Find out about the jobs done by women, what life was like for an Iron Age child and how the land was farmed. Investigate the tools and weapons that they made.
Task: Create a poster of all the information that you have found. You can set out your poster however you like, but make it stand out with lots of colour and pictures.

Session 2: Iron Age Forts
Look at a range of maps and aerial images to find and observe Iron Age hillforts. Make diagrams and plans of an Iron Age hillfort and describe its features. Imagine they are a local chief deciding where to build a new hillfort. Identify a suitable location on a local map and draw a plan of it.

Session 3: The Lindow Man
Find out about the Lindow Man. Act as historians, gathering gruesome evidence about him and identify the cause and effect of this amazing discovery. The British Museum has some useful information and images. Read online newspaper reports and other evidence to find out who archaeologists believe he was and what they think happened to him. Answer the question, ‘Why is the Lindow man so well preserved?’ Write a short article for the fictitious magazine The Weekly Historian, telling readers some of the details of this important find.

PE:
This is a link to Joe Wicks Youtube page, there you will find plenty of online workouts you can do in your own homes. You do not need any equipment to complete these workouts.
He is also running online PE sessions at 9:00 am each morning. Just go to his YouTube channel.
French!
Over the last few weeks we've been reading the book 'Le cameleon arc-en-ciel,' all about a chameleon who kept changing colour.
- Click here to find the words we've been learning and using in a wordsearch. You could either print it out, or open it on Word and use 'insert>shape>line' to draw lines over the words you find.
- Can you draw a chameleon like we did in class? Underneath write 'Mon cameleon est ______ et ________.' In the gaps write the colours that you used to colour your chameleon. How will your chameleon blend in with its surroundings? I'd love to see any pictures!

Maths:
Morning Maths:
In Year 3, each morning, we come into class and complete an activity that warms up our brains and gets us ready to learn for the day. I will upload a weekly set of sheets which can be done every morning. These will not take long and are largely based on revision or reasoning questions and the children should be able to access them.
Maths Work:
For the first week I have set a revision booklet, this should last the whole week. I have labelled each days activities, this should take around 20 minutes to complete.
Other Maths Resources:
All children will have access to Mathletics at home. Tasks will be set each week, with the children gaining instant feedback from the tasks that they complete. Once the child has finished their activities that have been set, they will be able to access the online game system where they can race against their class mates or complete other revision tasks.
If your child is unsure of their login, please let me know and I will send it out to you.
We have also been working on our Times Tables in class. In year 3, we focus largely on the 3x, 4x and 8x table. We hopefully are already be confident with our 2x, 5x and 10x table. Below I have put links to websites which you may find fun and useful.

White Rose Hub:
Throughout the year, we have covered lots of units within our Maths No Problem scheme. The White Rose Hub have created a Power-point with lots of reasoning questions based on each unit. I will try and upload as many as possible each week. If you would like to download your own then please click on this link.
Art
In art, we have been looking at examples of prehistoric patterns and carvings, and we have designed our own ones on polystyrene tiles for printing.
- You could design your own pattern on paper, or copy one from the internet.
- You could 'engrave' your pattern onto a polystyrene pizza base, and maybe even print with it if you have poster paint. Put a thin layer of paint onto your tile using a paint brush, cover it with a piece of paper and smooth it down.Careful peel it off to reveal your design.
- Alternatively, find a smooth flat pebble and draw your design with a felt tipped pen onto a pebble, or use a pencil and paint over it with a thin brush.
