Staff Visit to Grevena, Greece.

12th - 14th December 2019

Mrs Billington and Mr Sanders visited our link school in Grevena, Greece between the 12th and 14th December 2019.  It really was a flying visit, we spent a day and a half in the town!

Grevena is in a beautiful part of Greece.  It is the only regional capital not on the coast.  There are national parks close by with beautiful scenery.  There's a woodland behind the town which was planted by a teacher and his pupils around 50 years ago - the teacher wanted the children to have a wonderful place to learn and enjoy the outdoors!

On the way, our plane was delayed, so we both had a chance to sit in the Captain's chair and talked with the pilot and co-pilot!

The staff and children at 3rd Primary School in Grevena were very welcoming! We visited English language lesson and taught the children our song, 'Friends Across the World'!

Below are pictures of the classroom, the river which flows through the centre of Grevena and a sculpture of mushrooms!  Grevena is well-known locally for mushrooms, there are lots of sculptures of mushrooms across the town and they feature in many of the local dishes!

A group of approximately 6 children will visit Grevena in March 2020.  Children from each of our European partner schools will visit at the same time.
