Collective Worship week of 18 May 2020

This week we will be sharing some Bible Stories about our theme - Friendship.
You can read it from a photograph of the book we often use, the Lion Storyteller bible.

Each day, have a think about who is being a good friend in the story and what they're doing that makes them a good friend.

A prayer we can use - don't forget though, Jesus is a Good Friend, and we can talk with him whenever we like.

Dear Jesus,

Help us to remember that you are there and we can talk with you whenever we want to.  You promised that you'd be listening.

Help us to learn more about how to be a really great friend to others as we read these bible stories this week.

Help us to think about how e can do all the things we've been learning about this half term so that we can be an even better friend.  Help us to stick together, encourage one another, support one another, make time for each other and learn to listen.

In Jesus's name, Amen.

Monday 18th May

Today we're going to hear and read the story of when God called Abraham.  You can find it in Genesis chapters 12. 17 to 18 and 21.

Tuesday 19th May

Today's story is about Ruth, and how her friends helped her to find a new home.  The story is in the book of Ruth, chapters 1 to 4.

Wednesday 20th May

In today's story we hear about when Jesus first met his disciples, we know that they became very special friends.

Thursday 21st May

Jesus often taught people using parables - do you remember? Parables are 'Earthly stories with a heavenly meaning.'  In the parable of the Good Shepherd we learn about how important we are to Jesus, and what a good friend Jesus is.  You can find the parable in Matthew chapter 18 or Luke chapter 15.

Friday 22nd May

This story is from the time between Easter and Pentecost when Jesus was appearing to his disciples, but they didn't always recognise him.  We'll learn more about Pentecost and what happened next after half term.
