Home Learning
Home learning activities will be sent out on a Thursday to be returned the following Wednesday. This will consist of daily reading (SPARX), an English and Maths activity alongside another more open-ended activity that will vary from week to week. Your involvement in your child’s education is the most important factor in their success, and therefore your support is much appreciated.
Children will be given home learning books which will contain all the activities and resources they need to complete across the week.
Homework books must be brought to school each Wednesday ready for the next week’s activities.
Times Table Rockstars is not a choice and is a part of your child's home learning. They each have a login which is stuck in their home learning book. Paper practice is available when requested by a parent.

Reading
In Year 6, we are very enthusiastic about books and reading! We encourage children's reading for pleasure and enjoyment. As part of our provision, children will have a school library book. This should come to and from school daily for the children to read and enjoy. Please read with your child and foster a life-long love of reading.
Year 6 are currently reading Orphans of the Tide
Struggling to engage your child with books at home? Please let Miss Ebbutt know.
Topic: History and Geography
We will be investigating maps in Geography and finding out about how the Ancient Greeks shaped the world we know today in History.
Science
In Science, we will be looking at how blood travels around the body (The Circulatory System) and how living things become the way they are (Evolution).
Physical Education
This half term, Year 6 will have PE with Miss Ebbutt on a Monday Mr Troman on a Friday. Your child will need to come to school in their PE uniform - full details of the PE uniform can be found on the website.

Autumn Timetable
Here is the daily timetable for this term. Although there may be some changes for additional activities or visits, we try to follow this as closely as we can. Please take the time to look at this with your child before the school week and to review each day with them afterwards.
Note: Read timetable from left to right. Scroll down for the afternoon activities.
Y5/6 Spellings: Alongside the regular practice of homework spellings, there are a set of Year 5/6 spellings that children are expected to know by the end of the two-year phase. Please practise these words regularly with your child (first link).
Maths Resources: Below, you will find a 12 x 12 times table grid. Children are expected to be fluent in their times tables. Please practice times tables with your child and encourage them to use Times Table Rockstars!
