Storm Closure: Years 3 and 4
Welcome to a special page for Thursday 2nd November 2023, when we will all be learning from home.
Miss Day and Miss Butcher have put together a special collection of activities for us all to do at home when it is windy. Please feel free to pick and choose from any of the activities below: no one has to do everything but you can if you would like to!
You can email your work to the Year 3 and Year 4 addresses, or bring it in on Friday to share.
Year 3 email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Year 4 email email@example.com
Year 3 SPaG task!
On Wednesday we were working on homophones. Homophones are two words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings, such break and brake. Can you think of a list of more homophones? Write a sentence or draw a picture for each one. You might want to watch the BBC Bitesize video first to give you more ideas.
Here are some to get you started!
Year 4 SPag task.
We have been working on using commas to write lists. Can you write a list of items, using a comma to separate them rather than the word 'and' every time? Don't forget to use an 'and' before the last item! You can get some extra tips on this link.
You might want to write a list of things in your fridge, toys in your cupboard, your favourite foods or even your favourite footballers!
Maths for both classes!
Have a look at this maths challenge. Your challenge is to choose four one digit numbers and use them at the bottom of a triangle. The instruction sheet will tell you exactly how to add them together and what to do next.
How many different ways can you get the number 15 at the top?
Have a look at this information about the human skeleton on the BBC website. Watch the video, do the quiz and label the skeleton. Remember you can screen-shot your skeleton picture if you want to save it or print it out.
If you enjoyed making our bats on Tuesday, here are the instructions to make another one.
Fancy a challenge?
Have a look at Blossom and see how many words you can make! What is the longest word you can make, and how many points did you score. (You get extra for using the yellow petal and you must use the middle letter in every word! Words must have four letters or more.)
