It was lovely to see so many of you today. We will have another meeting tomorrow at 1:30. If you have any problems accessing the meeting, please let us know.

Thank you all for your continued support. The work you have been doing at home is amazing and I look seeing what you all get up too.

I think someone was busy last night!!!

Phonics

Well done to you all, you have been doing amazing phonics work, and I have been super impressed.

Today your new sound is 'ir' which sounds like 'er' which the children will know. Have a look though the powerpoint, practice writing words with the 'ir' sound in and complete the work sheet.

If you have time, a practice on phonics play, would be really helpful in improving segmenting and blending.

Good Luck

Maths

I am excited to see how amazing you are all going to be at addition when you come back. In year 1, the children must know their number bonds to 10, off the top of their heads. So practicing this will really help. Here is a work sheet, and an online game, to help the children with their quick fire number bonds.

Literacy

In year 1, there are a set of words the children have to know, called common exception words. These words, the children need to be able to read by sight, we cannot sound them out.

One of these words is 'was' have a go at the worksheet, to practice reading and writing 'was.'

The alphabet

Please can you practice writing the alphabet with your children. In school we have been focusing on where the letters sit on the lines, and whether they go to the top of the line or underneath or sit in the middle. The children are fab at this, I'm sure they will wow you with their amazing writing.

Topic

The children have now done a lot of work around their topic, seasons, they should be super stars.

The children need to show what each tree would look like depending on the season. The children can then pick a season and write a sentence about it. I love seeing all of your hard work.

Here is a matching worksheet, the children need to match the words to the correct weather.

Handwriting is important in year 1...

Here is a pencil control sheet, the children know we take our time when we do this. Make sure they are keeping to the lines and not rushing. If you do not have access to a printer, you can draw different types of lines for the children to trace over.
