Monday 30th November

We hope you have had a lovely weekend. Here are your home learning activities for today.

Please could you email any work you do with your children to yr1@beacon-ce-primary so I am able to keep an up to date record of the work children have been doing at home.

Thank you for your support during this time, grown up's and children are doing a fab job and we cannot wait to see everyone very soon!

Miss James and Mr Wright.

Phonics

Today's new phonics phoneme is 'ea.' The children have already learnt the 'ee' phoneme. Our new sound is exactly the same but spelt differently. Words we would find this grapheme in are, 'tea, sea and heal.

Literacy

Today in literacy, I would like the children to practice using capital letters and full stops. This is something that is very important in year 1. We have recently learnt when we would use them. I would like the children to re-rewrite the sentences but adding in the full stops and capital letters. I think they will will be superstars at this.

PE

During this time, when the children are not allowed it, it is really important for them to keep exercising. Here are some videos to keep them active during this strange time.

Maths

We have been learning how use the addition symbol and the children are becoming confident using it. For maths today, I would like the children to fill in the following worksheet. Some children may find it easier if they used a number line to help them.

Extension:

If children finish and find it quite easy, here is an extension activity that may challenge them. This worksheet is an extension and therefore is to be completed only if you have time.

Topic

As the children will know, our topic this term is Splendid Skies. Last week we focused on looking at the different wind speeds, and how you would be able to tell how fast the wind is going by looking at the trees. Your task for today is to complete a sentence, writing about a windy day. I have written one for the children to re-write themselves, then I would like the children to have a go at writing their own sentence. Remembering their capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
